More 90's deja vu: 'Oath Keepers' gun movement

These Oath Keepers and their brothers-in-arms in the militias are paranoid and ready for war, which worries the government, which worries these paranoiacs even more, which alarms the government even more, which... Oh, you get the point.

You know, these Oath Keepers are great patriots and all, and I'm appreciative that the pigs are taking an oath not to shoot civilians, but... The open secret here is that these nutty gun groups pop up like mushrooms only during Democratic presidential administrations. To quote the article:

"The group's Web site, www.oathkeepers.org, features videos and testimonials in which supporters compare President Barack Obama's America to Adolf Hitler's Germany. They also liken Obama to England's King George III during the American Revolution.

"One member, in a videotaped speech at an event in Washington, D.C., calls Obama 'the domestic enemy the Constitution is talking about.'"

Well, obviously.

But then some gun-loving dipstick like Palin will get elected next and all these people will fade back into the woodwork (or the woods, as the case may be) until another Democrat is elected, no matter what civil liberties may be trampled on in the meantime. It's becoming like some kind of natural phenomenon, a cycle of waxing and waning nuttiness as predictable as the changing of the seasons.
