Kennedy makes a good point that Obama's liberalism has always been over-inflated by the right wing to make him into a bogeyman, but nevertheless, Obama has back-pedalled on core liberal promises like a public option for health care. Obama was never the Right's anti-christ, nor, unfortunately, was he ever the Left's messiah. He is a cautious, middle-of-the-road, Ivy League, corporate-funded, Blue Dog/DLC Democrat. He's like Clinton without the angry tongue, reckless labido -- or the ambition for greatness. Obama is not a liberal-progressive. We can't expect much from him. (Republicans, that means you can cheer up and stop predicting a socialist dictatorship in the span of 3 years.)
